When I was just a little child, you held me in your arms
You calmed my fears dried all my tears, sheltered me from all life’s storms
I’d like to thank you for your special touch, for showing me you cared so much
But there’s something more I’d like to thank you for
That made a difference in my life

Momma...  you gave me many things but to you I’d like to say
You raised me up and you gave me love,  and cared for me from day to day
And Mom I know you sacrificed to give to me the best in life
But the greatest gift you ever gave was when you gave me Jesus

Now I remember through the years how you gave me special things
A new bike to ride, a store bought doll or song that I could sing
You took the time to teach a child to sew a brand new home made dress
It didn’t matter what the days would bring
You always gave your best

    Well, I'm really not anonymous but it's the easiest way to get to post. A serious accident that could have taken my wife into eternity inspired this song.

Did I ever tell you about the day my mother stopped breathing?

A moment I shall never forget: when my mother stopped breathing. On August 9, 2012 , only moments after the doctor said she was well enough to go home from the hospital, I found myself standing in the corner of an emergency room in that same hospital with a medical team surrounding her bed. The team worked like a well running machine - attaching monitors, inserting an IV, drawing blood, - at least 10 of them working with speed and precision. As the team worked, I watched her eyes become fixed, unmoving; she did not respond to the nurse shouting in her ear, but seemed to be staring at something only she could see. Christmas Night - The Part Left Out

I've been thinking about Jesus, the Savior of the world being born to that young couple in Bethlehem.  I wonder, was Joseph by Mary's side through her labor and did he help her with the birth? I reflect back on May 27, 1974 when my first little baby was born in the hospital up on the hill in our town. I got the standard treatment:  At the beginning of a mother's hospitalization for the birth of a child she was put into a labor room. In my hospital that room was about 10'X10'.  It had a bed, a rolling table with a pitcher and a glass for water, a little one or two drawer metal chest and one chair ...and that was about it.  Mothers would spend from a few hours to 2-3 days in this little room.  Dad could stay with Mom in this room, but when the birth was near, Mom was taken to the delivery room where Dad was not allowed to go.  It was a very sterile environment and about the same size as the labor room.  There were several nurses in the room and the doctor, all go
